Mattress Toppers Any Good

You want a Mattress Topper to soften my mattress? Ideas?

I do not like memory foam … I've tried and not good for my back. My mattress current is in good condition, only a few years, but I find it a bit difficult at times and want something to soften it. Any ideas? regular foam? Decorative feather bed?
